I learned about this book at brainpickings, a site that I subscribe to on Twitter. It always has interesting serene tidbits and suggestions for reading. Walking is a favourite pastime of mine, so this seemed like a good book for me (she has another about walking as well).
The essays were lovely and lyrical, and I enjoyed the descriptions and histories the author shares throughout. However, I found many of the essays disjointed – several include two or three main themes that did not connect easily (or at all) for me, and a few had multi-page excerpts from other works that didn’t seem to make sense. So while I wanted to like this book, I thought it was just okay.
