This is my fourth Strout book, and I continue to enjoy her every word. I was glad to find this on my bookshelf this weekend, as I had started it back in April and so could finish it in a couple of mornings (and also satisfying the leftover category, one I missed last year).
In this sequel to My Name is Lucy Barton, we meet several of the characters Lucy spoke about and see their lives and stories in situ in small town Illinois. Lucy is present directly or obliquely in these stories, so the collection serves to expand on her story (Strout took a similar approach with the Olive Kitteridge stories) while also creating fully realized characters that are engaging and true.
I look forward to reading more Strout, and thankfully she has plenty to choose from.
